I got tired of pawing through my basket of bobbins and looking for an empty, so I got into "use it up" mode. At the end of a warp, I wove stripes hit-or-miss with all the partially filled bobbins. I remembered this double-bobbin shuttle at the back of a shelf, and put it to use. As each bobbin was used up, I replaced it with another; as the bobbins never ended at the same place, there was some overlap and blending of colors.
The shuttle weighs nearly half a pound fully loaded, so the throwing is pretty hard on the wrists after a while. Thirty minutes at a time is my limit.
What is it going to be, did I hear you say? Hm-m-m. Doesn't matter. But the pile of naked bobbins is growing steadily. Maybe tomorrow I'll get back to "real" weaving.
