Yes, I do watch boxing on TV, but today's post is not about boxing—it's about the shocking discrepancy among tape measures.
I'm starting a new jacquard weaving, and as always I weave a 1" swatch to determine ppi, so that I can then calculate the aspect ratio of this particular weave/yarn combination.
My aspect ratios have been a bit off in recent months, and I finally discovered why: my tape measures are not all the same! I compared two of them this morning, and they disagree by a quarter of an inch in one 20" section. That is a whopping big number. I think it's time to write a letter to the editor.
Moral of the story: when calculating aspect ratio, be sure you use the same tape measure for all your measurements.
Here's a closeup of the weave. As you can see, I'll be using more dithering in this design than I have in the past.
