Lotsa fun at the fireworks last night, but man, was it loud! We were sitting very near the cannons, and my ears are still ringing from the 1812 Overture. The guys in charge of the cannons were in Civil War reenactment attire, and if you think about it, it was a little out of keeping with Napoleon and the War of 1812, but I doubt that anyone minded.
The Greenville Symphony provided the music, and here is Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel in glorious attire designed by Gregory Ellenberg. It looks like he is hitting the violinist in the nose with his baton, but I assure you that was not the case.
Here's a little video of the fireworks, with the GSO performing Sousa's Stars & Stripes Forever. Just to give you a flavor.
