The sun is coming up later & later. My morning walks start out in partial light; the puddles are great at this hour of the day! So are some of the streaming effects.
After breakfast, I was able to finish the woven journal entry I started yesterday. This one is lampas, like all the others, but with a change. For background, I used the ground weave (3/1 broken twill, untied), which has a black warp and blue weft. Then for the text, I used one of the pattern weaves (white weft). To keep the background area from pouffing up (which it would otherwise tend to do, as the layers are untied) I dotted it liberally with spots of the second pattern weft (green). The selvedge and other borders are in the same granite weave surrounding the previous entries.

And a small miracle happened while I was weaving this entry. That pesky heddle, which had been malfunctioning ever since I repaired the vacuum pump, suddenly came back to life! It was a spontaneous event—a speck of dirt must have dislodged itself from the valve. You can see the evidence here—it's the peach colored silk pattern warp. Now I won't have to take the module apart and replace the valve, not my favorite job.
One more quick photo before I leave. Here's Ampersand House this morning, with the sun highlighting the river birch tree.
