In order to tame the floats in my granite weaves, I came up with another group of Photoshop Pattern Presets in which the maximum float length is 4. I based these on 20-end satins, and kept adding ties until I had weaves I liked. I made sure all the weaves in this group are inclusive (More information on inclusivity in The Liftplan Connection, page 46. See sidebar.). These weaves could be used on a 40-shaft loom, or on a 24-shaft loom with 4 shafts left over for selvedges. They'd be good for jacquard work, too. Click to enlarge.
Here's the first sample.
There's some good news here. This sample is the first I've woven while beta testing AVL Drive, an appealing little piece of software that reads wif files and drives the Compudobby IV. It is so nice to have my Mac driving the loom at last. I can now do all my Photoshop designing right beside my loom, and make changes as I go, without running up and down stairs (my desktop Mac is upstairs, the looms are downstairs). The downside is that I don't get as much exercise, but that's nobody's fault but my own.

I am not able to repeat my initial success with AVL Drive.
