In these dishtowels with text, I try to arrange the design areas so that the text can be read while the folded towel is on the rack, no matter which end is in front. So there is text on both ends, and the second end is upside down. For the center transition from one text to the other I try to use a design that is approximately the same tonal value or weight as the text. My current favorite design is one I call "Finland." Now I've never been to Finland and I know about Finnish design only from books, but this little design just looked Finnish to me. That's my story.
You can just see the final "—ing" going round the beam, and the new poem, upside down, at the fell of the web.
