In looking at granites in a new way, I tried alternating runs of straight threading with satin, first in blocks of 3 repeats each, then in single repeats. Here's a ProWeave screen shot of drafts in which a straight threading of 1-8 is alternated with a satin. Click to enlarge.
These are either treadled as drawn in or treadled straight, with granite weaves inserted in the tieup. I also tried a few twills in the tieup, with very surprising results.
Here are a few samples on the new purple warp. I'll eventually weave these off with a weft closer in value to the warp, but for sampling, these give me a lot more information. As always, the opera's not over until the wet finishing is done.
