Three more granite dishtowels have been cut off and hemmed. Click to enlarge.
The striped ones are fine, with a lot of bounce and satisfying texture in the granites. But the yellow one in the middle is a disappointment. It has a swirling, interconnected pattern, and I had hoped the two granite weaves would show up the pattern even through the warp and weft are the same tonal value. It didn't happen.
But under certain lighting conditions—strong sidelight, for example—the pattern does show up. Perhaps I will keep this towel for myself and use it only at dawn and sunset, with the kitchen lights turned off. That way I'll be able to see the pattern at least twice a day.
