The dishtowel from yesterday's post left me with the urge to simplify. I redid the draft to have fewer weave structures, although the underlying design is the same. The ground is now 2/2 broken twill, and the tilted ogees and their outlines are 3/1 straight twill (left and right facing) and 1/3 straight twill (same). Here's the draft. Click to enlarge.
And to simplify further, I opted for a more monochromatic palette. The warp is still shades of yellow, of course, and the weft is now natural undyed cotton. It's working fine, but is hard to photograph in harsh light. I waited for late in the day so that I could have side light from the window just to the left of the loom, and then Boom! There was a violent thunderstorm, and the light outside is now greenish. Add to that the reddish tones peeking up through the weaving from the previous towel underneath the breast beam, and we have a strange fruit salad of pixels. I did the best I could with Photoshop, and you will have to imagine the rest.
