Our plans to paint en plein air this morning had to be scrapped because of the weather system moving through; but Cathy and I still managed to get some drawing & painting done indoors. First I had to photograph her fantastic rock garden with the fairy houses and their tiny doors. Cathy says that only the fairies can open the doors and go inside, but her granddaughters claim to have seen the fairies here once or twice. Who can argue?
I tried sketching some of the great tools in Cathy's studio while she worked on cleaning up an old wooden model seashell to make yet another tiny house for the garden. This one will eventually have doors and windows.
The patio outside Cathy's studio is made of bricks salvaged from an old nearby textile mill. Plaited twill, anyone?
