I enjoy using text on the diagonal in dobby weaving. I thought it would be fun to use simulated handwritten text with my usual Photoshop routine. Here's the starting point, written with on a Wacom tablet with a stylus:
This isn't real text, just a scribble. I explore the patterning possibilities here. No secret messages! After the diagonal transformation and repetition, it had morphed into this:
I cleaned it up a bit, eliminating stray pixels, and this liftplan with satin weave structures added is the result (I'm showing it turned sideways, to fit on the screen better, but you get the idea):
And finally, the start of the weaving:
This is quite a long file, 280 picks; About 4 1/2 repeats should give me a nice dishtowel. If you click to enlarge it, you'll be able to see the three satin structures.
