The photographers were kind enough to tolerate a watercolor sketcher on their last expedition. I like hanging out with these folks—they are always up for an adventure. Last Wednesday we went to Skytop Orchard in NC, a huge apple orchard where you can pick your own, and ramble to your heart's content. The day was overcast, a good condition for getting saturated colors, and the colors of the day were all green (not a touch of autumn color yet!). I did my best to suggest the greens, but what really turned me on was the pattern of stripes on hill after rolling hill of rows of apple trees, all of them heavy with apples of all varieties. A very rich day (and I did bring home apples).
