This lovely loom took up residence in my studio today. I am one lucky weaver! The loom's design is perfect for its purpose: weaving inkle bands. It has no reed, no beater. It does have two shafts with string heddles and ratcheted warp and cloth beams.
In addition to its sturdiness and elegant design, the warp beam is the most interesting feature, in my opinion. U-shaped flange mechanisms are included to contain the dense warp, much like the dividers on a sectional warp beam of wider looms, and enable easy warping of high-count inkle warps with no additional paper or sticks. Maximum weaving width on this model is 4", and 200 heddles are included.
This Mini Wave Loom sits comfortably in the lap for weaving; there are larger models which can be fitted with optional stands. The looms come from the great folks at Gilmore Looms. Go here for more information.
