Lately in the evenings we seem to be under seige from small projectiles hitting the roof. It's the sound of hail, or perhaps small boys throwing stones. On closer inspection in the mornings, it's only acorns. There are several oak trees in the back yard, and the acorns are especially big this year. They cover the driveway and the deck, and are a hazard to unsuspecting ankles when I go out to pick up the morning paper.
But they make wonderful patterns! Today I am thinking polkadots. Making dots look random is difficult, particularly when working with 16 shaft liftplans, but with persistent use of the Photoshop's Offset filter (Filter>Other>Offset) a workable dot pattern is the result. Here it is interpreted in broken twill.
