An Addition

In this lampas sample, a second structure has been added to the primary cloth. The two primary structures are 3/1 twill (the magenta eggs) and 1/3 twill (the blue dots). This layer is all served by the blue warp, but it's the varying amount of magenta showing in the weaves that gives the illusion of two different colors. The secondary weft is gold 5/2 cotton on a warp of peach silk. Click to enlarge.
