Yesterday on a beautiful May Saturday we drove up the mountain to attend the Asheville Bread Festival. As we entered the Magnolia building at AB Tech, the heavenly aroma of fresh bread met our nostrils. The vendor area was a visual and olfactory feast. Here are just a few of the creations on display.
After a mid-morning snack of pain au chocolat, I sampled a bialy stuffed with barbecued pork, then felt sufficiently fortified to attend a workshop on the frontiers of breadbaking with renowned author & teacher Peter Reinhart.
Before the ride back down the mountain, I purchased a few sacks of locally grown, locally milled flour and a DVD on pizza making.
A very sustaining day, on many levels.
