Elizabeth

I, a long-time South Carolina resident who grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, flew home for my 60th high school reunion this weekend. It's been many years since I set foot in Elizabeth. All family members who lived there are gone. Most of my life has been lived elsewhere.

On arriving at Newark Airport, I spotted a bus with a colorful advertisement on its side. "Elizabeth! New Jersey's newest premiere urban tourist destination."

Who knew?
