Still in limbo. This is not the time to warp a dobby loom. But a rigid heddle loom is a friend one can pull out and warp at a moment's notice. It is pleasant to sit downstairs and weave while looking out at the garden.
Here's a closeup. Warp is wool, cotton, silk and the weft is my handspun wool/bamboo. It's plain weave with a bit of pickup thrown in.
It was raining last night. I watched the fireworks on the Mall from the comfort of my living room.
It was interesting to note that all over the country, orchestras were playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture during the fireworks displays, celebrating our All-American holiday with music by a Russian composer, containing Russian hymns. And that many of our favorite American show tunes are the creations of immigrants to this country. Pause to reflect.
Hope you all have a good holiday weekend, and that you save some time for weaving. Or for whatever else makes you happy.
