My subscription to Google Alerts brings in some odd returns, as I've mentioned before. I ask Google to let me know whenever The Woven Pixel (see sidebar) is mentioned on the web. If the words woven and pixel appear in the same place, I get notified, even though it has nothing to do with our book. Such was the case today, when I was notified of a review of an art exhibition in Los Angeles. Artist Dinh Q. Lê has combined multiple images by cutting up photographs of disparate subjects and weaving the strips together. The effect is mysterious and ambiguous, and suggests relationships which might not have been apparent otherwise, and the catalyst is the woven structure. The picture in the article looks really interesting. If any of you in the Los Angeles area see the show, I'd love to hear about it.
